Announcing: web page revamp!

We are going to be revamping our web page ---debuting in December.
What will the new site offer?

1) Information on FREE mini-seminars on improving writing conducted by authors who have made the Kindle best-seller lists--we will host these seminars. Some will be paid, some will be free.

2) New posts/ publishing / marketing tips each week.

3) Reviewer's corner: Where we invite reviewers to read advance copies of books to be released

4) Tour information: Are any of our authors on tour? Let us know.

5) Services: We will offer manuscript consultation services for a reasonable fee, depending upon length of the manuscript. Each consultation will come with a FREE five-page document featuring writing tips and resources on digital publishing.

6) Submission information: Yeah, we'll look at your manuscript to consider it for publication. We do NOT charge reading fees.

7) Masthead information: Who are we? Yeah, we ask ourselves that a lot, too. Maybe we should get that straightened out...

8) Need an internship? No, we don't pay (see next comment about the day job) but if you provide the requirements for course credits, we will be willing to work with your university on their requirements. More information forthcoming.

Why wait until December? This is a small operation and, to be frank, just a labor of love. Until we can quit the day jobs, we can't do this full time.

From Author Dawn DeAnna Wilson: book as a haiku?

As a part of this Orangeberry Summer Splash virtual book tour (and a chance to win a free Kindle, btw---if you are on Twitter, hash tags are #OBSummer #Books) one of the participating authors had the great idea of summarizing one of our books in a haiku (three-line Japanese poetry form of 5-7-5 syllables.)

Brilliant idea---I decided to give it a try for my novel I'm promoting, "Ten Thousand New Year's Eves."

 The world explodes with
 color in strange places, I
 look up; no one sees

It's much harder than it looks, and I'm still not thrilled with my version. There are a lot of other great haikus at his site:

Author will give away her favorite book---plus talks about her favorite movie kisses

From author Dawn DeAnna Wilson:

And no, it's not my book...my gosh, even I'm not THAT pretentious. But, as an added bonus, my romance novel, "Leaving the Comfort Cafe" will be FREE on June 24-25 as a part of a blog hop. I think the icon below is linked back to the blog hop, so check out all the authors on those days....

Special thanks to "Reading Romances" for hosting the blog hop. As for which book is my favorite? I'm not giving it away. But suffice it to say it is a beautiful/ tragic love story.

In the meantime, here are some clips of my favorite on-screen movie kisses:

This one should come as no surprise to anybody:

I was always a sucker for Jimmy Stewart...

Could there be a bad kiss scene with Johnny Depp? Methinks not.

And this one? Absolutely.

And of course, this one: And finally, this one, mainly for the wonderful lines leading up to it. And I love that they didn't try to make this rom com too, well, rom com---they did concentrate on happy couples being, well  , happily incompatible.

RIP Ray Bradbury...tribute by Dawn Deanna Wilson

It seemed appropriate to give a tip of the hat to Ray Bradbury. Although I do not write science fiction, Mr. Bradbury had a profound influence on me as a writer, but to really understand or explain that, you have to follow me back to fourth grade (or maybe it was sixth...the years blur together as you get older. It was a simpler time....I told myself I'd slap myself if I ever wrote a line like that, but it was true. summer in my small town didn't offer a lot of excitement, and with a mother who was a teacher, limits were put on TV and other indoor activities like video games. Thankfully, I had two neighbors my age who embraced the "hip to be square" philosophy with me, and summer meant that there were days we could just hang out at our small town library....let me reiterate, this was the time when even the most conservative parents would have no problem leaving some sixth graders at the library for a couple of hours, or even a good chunk of the day. we were generally well-behaved (there would be hell to pay if we weren't)and it was there that I enjoyed books such as the Taran Wanderer series, some horse book called Tiger Roan (which grossed me out because the horse lost an eyeball or some such) and then, seeing a totally funky cover, I picked up a copy of Bradbury's "Illustrated Man." wow. I'm not saying Bradbury is the best writer I've ever read, or that he was some sci-fi Shakespeare, but his fiction had the ability to grasp my young ( and let's face it, somewhat sheltered) mind and shake it. the way the stories wove together, the Twilight Zone type feel of them, one story , "The Man" seemed to allude to astronauts just missing Jesus on a planet they visited. From then on, I reveled in every Bradbury book and short story ( a woman gives birth to a small, blue triangle? what the....?) And Fahrenheit 451 remains one of my eerily prophetic favorites. Thanks Mr. Bradbury.Link to his bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Bradbury
